What does the service include?

Your oil boiler service will be carried out by an OFTEC trained engineer and you will receive a certificate report, providing you with a record of the work carried out. You should always receive evidence of a service.

We will check the safety and performance of your boiler and make sure that it is calibrated to the original manufacturers specification. To do this, we use calibrated testing equipment and will provide you with a record of this after the service.

We will also provide a free assessment of any recommended maintenance or safety concerns on your oil tank or boiler.

A well maintained boilers use less fuel - having your heating oil boiler serviced annually ensures it runs at its maximum efficiency and could reduce your annual fuel costs by up to 10%.

Having the boiler serviced annually reduces the chance of costly breakdowns with expensive call-out charges. During the service your boiler is checked for wear and tear and may identify potential issues that require fixing before it becomes a bigger problem.

Whether you own or live in a property with a domestic oil tank, you are responsible for the cost of a clean up and any effects to the land or ground. This is an important reason to make sure your tank and boiler are checked at least annually.

Safety

Having your boiler serviced reduces fumes and emissions, protects the environment and keeps you and your family safe from deadly carbon monoxide leaks. If your oil burner isn’t burning it’s fuel correctly, it may be emitting carbon monoxide. This colourless and odourless gas can cause dizziness, headaches, nausea, and in extreme cases can lead to brain damage or even death. We would always recommend you fit a carbon monoxide detector. 

Look after the environment

By reducing emissions you help protect the environment. As no two boilers are exactly the same, during the service the boiler is adjusted using sophisticated and calibrated equipment to suit the exact boiler location. Your boiler and tank are also checked for environmentally damaging and harmful oil leaks. 

It may be required

You may be required to have an annual service by a registered OFTEC engineer. This is often the case to keep in warranties on newer boilers, for landlords, for home insurance or home emergency polices to remain valid.
